What is Function First Spine and Sport about:
The mission statement of Function First Spine and Sport is as follows:
Our mission is to educate and empower patients to be able to help heal their musculoskeletal disorders with the use of patient-specific chiropractic care and exercise therapy.
Let’s dissect this statement a little further.
I consider this word to mean the act of giving you information that you may not already possess to help further your understanding of your condition. I want you to be able to have the most information about your condition or syndrome and all the options for care. That is how you make the best-informed decision for your care. Being told that “your hip is out” is not a diagnosis. It is a limiting statement intended to give you the impression that you need the chiropractor “to put the hip back in”. There is so much more to it. When you understand the exact cause of the hip pain, that it is neural irritation, muscle guarding, and/or inflammation, then I can help explain to you how all these contributors can be addressed not only in our office, but at home with diet and exercise.
Information is power. Understanding your condition helps empower you to take control of the condition and be an active participant in your recovery and healing. Lack of knowledge on what is going on with your body or confusion over your situation can be misleading and cause you to be trapped into a treatment plan that is not right for you. That is the last thing that we want for you at Function First Spine and Sport. We want to be excited about your healing and motivated to keep moving!
Your body has an amazing ability to heal itself. In most cases with musculoskeletal or biomechanical pain, the body just needs to be told what to do. At Function First Spine and Sport, your healing will be enabled with a specific exercise or stretching routine that Dr. Cindy puts together based on your body and how it moves. It will change and evolve and ultimately GROW with you.
Educating and empowering YOU, is what we are about.
As always, Do your stretches!
